WESTIE HEALTH

One component of good health is plenty of exercise

All breeds are prone to certain health issues; Westies are no exception. They can range from very minor to serious and even life-threatening if not treated quickly and responsibly. Responsible breeders do their part to test their breeding stock and know the pedigree behind them to avoid or minimize the health issues most commonly seen in our Westies.

Go over your dog at least once a week and check them from head to tail for any type of bumps, fleas, ticks, redness of skin and feet; check the ears for infections. Know what your Westie feels like so if there are any changes, you will feel them. This will also get your Westie used to being handled and it is great one-on-one time with them.

The best thing you can do for your Westie is to take them to a Vet when they have problems. Have a complete blood panel done on them at least once a year.
