"To honor Westies, living or at the Rainbow Bridge, by donations in their names
to help other Westies find a better life while here, on earth"

WESTIE_LINE_BREAK.gif (3494 bytes)

Reggie didn't have a long life, but he had a happy life. Now, in his memory, his parents donate to Westie Rescue so that other Westies can share in that good life. Reggie is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge and smiling down on his Mom and Dad beause he knows what they have done in his name.

SPECIAL MEMORIALS

We thank the following individuals for thinking of Westie Rescue in some special ways:

CAROLYN RHODES - Carolyn set up a special bequest in her will which benefitted Michigan Westie Rescue.
DON ELAND - Ellen Eland named Westie Rescue as a charity for donations in lieu of flowers
SYLVIA GREEN - Sylvia closed her home and moved to a retirement location. She donated many of her Westie treasures to Rescue for future auction or sale.

Note: To leave a bequest in your will, you will be asked to provide a contact name and address. Since we have no physical location and the Club Officers change regularly, the best way to handle this is to stipulate the Club: West Highland White Terrier Club of Southeastern Michigan, Inc. and specify "Rescue"; then give the website URL: www.westieclubmi.com or www.westierescue-mi.com as the place to go to find the most current contacts. Since this Club is affiliated with the National Club, another URL would be www.westieclubamerica.com. That way, when the time comes, they will be able to locate the most current contacts.

Ted
Sir Teddy of Bear Meadows
Born May 10, 1992/Died July 24, 2008

Good Morning My Angel.

I hope you are happy, healthy and playing with the rest of your buddies in Heaven. I know in my heart that you went directly from my arms to God's.

You were my reason for living and the joy of my life since you came to live with me as a 7-week-old puppy. I knew you were Heaven Sent the day I saw you as a little teddy bear at 4 weeks old. You had me wrapped around your little paw the minute I held you. Next to my salvation, you were the greatest Gift I have ever received from God. Our years with Pet-A-Pet brought me such joy as I watched you bring a smile to the elderly, the handicapped children and even the dying. You got sweeter and more handsome as the years passed. You were such an amazing and special 'baby'. I could never have imagined that I would lose you three days after we celebrated your belated 16th birthday. As the guest of honor (and the center of attention), you were in your glory. All I had to do was observe you regally lying in the grass in such peace and serenity and my heart skipped a beat.

Since your arthritic leg no longer carried you, your favorite activity was a daily ride in the pet stroller that Uncle Mike bought for you. You were like a king on his throne, taking in everything around you. Just watching you gently sniff the air as it blew in your face put a smile on my face and everyone who encountered you. You were bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and, even at 16, your mom knows you had much life left. (Teddy died quite unexpectedly and coincidentally shortly after being given another dog's medication and/or an overdose of another med.)

How I miss being able to hug and kiss you every time I pass you sleeping on 'your' couch, and seeing your nose next to mine as I awaken every morning. How I miss the joy I felt in my heart every single time I looked at you. The silence is deafening. The shock is unbearable. My heart races every time I think of you. You will always be in my heart, my sweet boy; I hope the heartache will not. It was an honor to be your mom and take care of you all these years. I only wish we could have had more time together.

You are my heart. My love for you runs painfully deep. Be at peace, my sweet boy.

I will forever be Teddy's mom. Carmen Z

In Loving Memory of
Max

We came to know Max later in his life so we don't have memories of his years as a youngster but we enjoy hearing about his early years from his "parents". He will be missed by everyone who knew him, but most especially by Tom and Tracy who took such good care of him. It is comforting to know he is now with his best friend, "Al", playing and chasing the squirrels he loved to chase. We shall always remember him and the joy he brought to all our lives.

Max was loved by Tom and Tracy Knaub. This memorial was written by friends, Paula, Bill and Katie Ruth

Bonnie
Bonnie
September 1990 - September 2006

Bonnie was a member of our family for many years. She was very loyal and protective of us, but she had one fear - cameras! The few pictures we have of her show her running away or sleeping. We don't need pictures to remember her though. She will be remembered in our hearts forever for all the joy, laughter, and love she brought us. In memory of Bonnie, loved Westie of Gary and Kathy Smith

Lady
Lady

In memory of Lady
approx. 1993 - 5/17/06
Lady first came to me as a boarder then became my foster. In between, she became one of mine. Lady was a gentle soul. Her hearing was bad and her eye's didn't see clearly but she soldiered on as if those issues didn't exist. In true Westie fashion, she didn't whimper or cry. She just had this huge bark that would wake you up about 5 am. when she was ready to eat and go out. I put bells on her collar so I could hear her in the yard. I miss those sounds. I will know it is my sweet Lady at the Bridge when I hear the gentle tinkle of bells. Sadly missed and loved very much. Bev Walker

Emily Elizabeth
Emily Elizabeth
Found as a stray March 2006

This little girl came into Westie Rescue on March 22nd. She was found in a ditch on the side of a road. She was in very bad shape. She had medical issues too numerous to list along with fleas, parasites and very bad skin issues. Needless to say she did not make it. We just can’t save them all.

How did she get in to this point in her life? We will never know. We can only hope that she was loved and cared for at one time. They give us so much and ask so little.

We wanted to give her something back. Emily Elizabeth was her name when she was put to sleep. I think we gave her a beautiful name.

She left this world to go to the bridge, to be healthy and free of filth and pain once again. Now she is free to run and play with the others who left before her.

This is our way of honoring her…..

She will have a place in our hearts forever.

Vince, Barb, Annie and Mozart Engerer
